Assassin's Creed PC Requirements and Specs

379 Comments by AssassinsCreedX.com in Assassin's Creed

Ubisoft have finally unveiled the requirements and spec figures for the long-awaited PC release of Assassin's Creed. Just a quick word of warning before you continue on to the hardware requirements compiled below: You will need a pretty beefy rig to play Assassin's Creed even at the minimum system requirements. If you thought BioShock had some pretty steep graphical requirements then you'll probably be dumbfounded when you see the requirements for the PC version of Assassin's Creed. Yikes.

In order to play this game properly, your PC MUST meet or exceed these minimum requirements:

Supported OS: Windows XP / Vista (only)
Processor: Dual core processor 2.6 GHz Intel Pentium D or AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ or better recommended)
RAM: 2 GB (3 GB recommended)
Video Card: 256 MB DirectX 10.0–compliant video card or DirectX 9.0–compliant card with Shader Model 3.0 or higher (512 MB video card recommended) (see supported list)*
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0 or 10.0 compliant sound card (5.1 sound card recommended)
DirectX Version: DirectX 10.0 libraries (included on disc)
DVD-ROM: DVD-ROM dual-layer drive
Hard Drive Space: 12 GB
Peripherals Supported: Keyboard, mouse, optional controller (Xbox 360 Controller for Windows recommended)

*Supported Video Cards at Time of Release:
ATI RADEON X1300-1950 / HD 2000 / 3000 series
NVIDIA GeForce 6600-6800 / 7 / 8 / 9 series

Laptop versions of these cards may work but are NOT supported. These chipsets are the only ones that will run this game.

NOTICE: This game contains technology intended to prevent copying that may conflict with some disc and virtual drives.

Assassin's Creed certainly isn't as power hungry as 'even more real than real' Crysis, but it certainly isn't far off. If you've been waiting all this time and managed to hold off buying Assassin's Creed for the Xbox 360 or PS3 and are absolutely determined to play AC on PC: Then now is the time to get that upgrade you've been putting off for so long.

Yes the game performs a lot better with a quad core processor. I just tried the game for the first time with my Core 2 Quad and it was a LOT smoother with it. I also have a GTX 285 video card to complement my system. A lot of games coming to the PC will do better with a 4-core proc.

Oi, if you guys want a better idea of how well your computer will work with AC2 then just use the hardware checker on the AC2 page of game-debate.com. You need to know your system specs for input thought. Here are my results from using the tool there:

    CPU: Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5200 (2.50 Ghz) [90% compatible]
GPU: ATI Radeon Saphire HD 4830/512Mb [99% compatible]
    RAM: 3.25Gb [100% compatible]

Remember, the posted requirements are RECOMMENDED so if your hardware is worse than what was posted you have a SLIGHT chance of being able to work with it if your values are close.
