Assassin's Creed PC Requirements and Specs
Ubisoft have finally unveiled the requirements and spec figures for the long-awaited PC release of Assassin's Creed. Just a quick word of warning before you continue on to the hardware requirements compiled below: You will need a pretty beefy rig to play Assassin's Creed even at the minimum system requirements. If you thought BioShock had some pretty steep graphical requirements then you'll probably be dumbfounded when you see the requirements for the PC version of Assassin's Creed. Yikes.
In order to play this game properly, your PC MUST meet or exceed these minimum requirements:
Supported OS: Windows XP / Vista (only)
Processor: Dual core processor 2.6 GHz Intel Pentium D or AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ or better recommended)
RAM: 2 GB (3 GB recommended)
Video Card: 256 MB DirectX 10.0–compliant video card or DirectX 9.0–compliant card with Shader Model 3.0 or higher (512 MB video card recommended) (see supported list)*
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0 or 10.0 compliant sound card (5.1 sound card recommended)
DirectX Version: DirectX 10.0 libraries (included on disc)
DVD-ROM: DVD-ROM dual-layer drive
Hard Drive Space: 12 GB
Peripherals Supported: Keyboard, mouse, optional controller (Xbox 360 Controller for Windows recommended)
*Supported Video Cards at Time of Release:
ATI RADEON X1300-1950 / HD 2000 / 3000 series
NVIDIA GeForce 6600-6800 / 7 / 8 / 9 series
Laptop versions of these cards may work but are NOT supported. These chipsets are the only ones that will run this game.

Assassin's Creed certainly isn't as power hungry as 'even more real than real' Crysis, but it certainly isn't far off. If you've been waiting all this time and managed to hold off buying Assassin's Creed for the Xbox 360 or PS3 and are absolutely determined to play AC on PC: Then now is the time to get that upgrade you've been putting off for so long.

come on people.. 1st post is the min specs.. if your PC is below this specs.. well it might run BUT dont expect to much.. I have a 3xcore amd 2.2 gig (clocked to 2.4), 4gig ram, gforce 9600 1 gig and I can play AC1 on high gfx with NO issues what so ever.. and from the min specs i SHOULD be able to play with medium to high gfx.. (yes there is no point to me putting my specs in) roll on next month!!.. ppl with p4 etc dont even bother.. if you have less than 2 gigs of ram.. dont bother.. though i would say dont bothher with less than 4 gigs.. if your gfx card has less than 256megs ram.. get a new one or get a xbox!.. to be honest if u want to play games and dont want to spend money uprading get a console as it will always play the games as released (well untill they make a new console)!

I have an ATI Radeon HD4800 series graphics card. Will AC2 run on it?
I played AC1 on this config, but anywhere from 5 minutes to 5 hours into playing, either the screen pixellates horribly (forcing me to quit & restart) or it crashes to the desktop (vista home basic) with the message "Your graphics driver stopped and has recovered".
Anyone else have that card? Will AC2 run on it?

Since I got so much response from you wizards :) I'll answer my own post.
Yes! The game runs just fine (I broke down & bought it yesterday). I haven't had any pixellation or crashes. HOWEVER, it suffers from a different symptom (the same one I had playing the last two Prince of Persia games (wake up, Ubisoft!)). The game sometimes either slows down (like ONE frame /second!) or freezes completely. This is clearly a graphics problem and not a game glitch as the solution in either case is either Ctrl-Alt-Del or Alt-Tab to get to the Task Manager then swith back to the game. No loss of play or restart.
Voila I wrote that for anyone else who has a 4800 series card and is having problems. Hope this helps
