Assassin's Creed Novel Trilogy Canceled

16 Comments by Dark Drakan in Assassin's Creed

In his blog, Steven Barnes, the intended author of the Assassin's Creed novels, has announced that they have been canceled.

I was asked about “Assassin’s Creed” and I’ve got bad news: the book isn’t going to be published. No, there was nothing wrong with it: Marco Palmieri at Pocket Books was perfectly happy with it. But it seems that the video company got visits from descendants of the ORIGINAL ASSASSINS, members of the Ismaeli sect currently led by the Agha Khan in India. They…suggested that Ubisoft, the game company, show more respect for their ancestors, and Ubisoft went all pitter-patter. Next thing we knew, they wanted to remove all religious references from the book. I guess the Crusades were about shoe size or something. Then they hired an expert to vet the book. Curious that they hadn’t thought about that before, eh? And finally, they wanted to send the book to the Agha Khan’s people for their suggestions. By this time, Marco was thoroughly disenchanted. The book was turning into puree of bat ****, and I was no longer amused. The whole three-book project died.

Why Even Care?

ok so these guys led by Agha Khan in India are pissed off because their decendants of 900 years ago are slightly portreyed as evil to fit the storyline. i mean "Ive never Heard of these guys!" some bloodline group of indians, personally i am disgusted as a Top range quality game worht millions, is going to be ruined as the Games Novel and Lore are killed off making the game a less enjoyable experience, anyone that has played "Assassin's Creed" will know that the constant supply of knowledge to this spine gripping story line is essensial. ask yourself this... with any outside source of Knowledge from the game, would you have know what each and every blood symbol there was painted on the walls and floor of the last scene of the game meant??. Personally: Ubisoft keep up the good work and make the game, they probably dont even have Xboxs or PS3's and they are complaining of ancestrial right for over 900 years.

    So,
    This is true?????
    I
(and hundreds of thousands of other people)
are going to be left hanging here at this mind blowing ending???????

I did NOT expect an ending like that.
    and I must say,
that it is probably one of the best cliffhanger endings to any story in a LONG time!
I can't believe that some prick is making such a big deal about all this...

    Isn't it kinda ironic though?
these people are just trying to find a way to control the world and its media,
not much unlike their ancestors of so many years ago...

Whatever happened to this country's First Amendment rights?
Screw those guys and write the damn books anyway. If they sue, who cares? You've got the Constitution backing you up, and what do they have? Ancestry doesn't trump human rights, guys. Sorry that we've insulted your ancestors, but we have the right to write whatever we want about whomever we want. There's nothing that says your ancestors are protected from becoming literary figures.

    We should respect everyone .

I was also looking forward to read that book .

I have played that game and it is the best i have ever played.
And there are many thing that remain unsaid in HISTORY and it is best for us that they remain unsaid.

Nothing is true, everything is permitted. go to barnes and noble and request the book, if its out there, theyll find it for you.
