Assassin’s Creed DS Title Confirmed - Assassin’s Creed: Altair’s Chronicles

Assassin’s Creed DS has been nothing more than a rumour for quite some time now. But finally, the next installation in the Assassin’s Creed series has finally confirmed its existence and it’s new, official title has been announced - Assassin’s Creed: Altair’s Chronicles and will be available on the Nintendo DS in the not-too-distant future.

Assassin’s Creed: Altair’s Chronicles will serve as a prequel to the first Assassin’s Creed game — currently available on Xbox 360, PS3 and soon to be released on the PC platform — and has apparently been designed from the ground-up, specifically with the DS in mind. Assassin’s Creed: Altair’s Chronicles will tell the story of Altair before the events of the original Assassin’s Creed game and will hopefully help us to learn more about the mysterious character.

Some of the features highlighted on the back of the case — for those of you who can’t quite make out the text — include:

• “Pull off amazing acrobatic moves and explore a fully 3D-rendered world.”
• “Master swordfights, stealth assassinations, combo attacks, and a variety of of weapons.”
• “Use your stylus to interrogate informers and pickpocket previous items from the crowd.”

Sounds good to me. If the folks over at Ubisoft really can pull off some of the stunning features seen in the original Assassin’s Creed and faithfully transfer them over to the tiny DS, I’ll be pleased.

There’s no word of a release date as yet, but we’re confident it won’t be too much longer. Watch this space.
