Gamespot Review Assassins Creed
Published by Dark Drakan on November 13, 2007
Gamespot have just recently put up their review of Ubisoft Montreals Assassins Creed and it has yet again scored highly. Seems the game is really delivering on all it promised and recieving good reviews from everyone.
Assassin’s Creed will stay with you long after you finish it. Here is one of the most unique gameworlds ever created: beautiful, memorable, and alive. Every crack and crevasse is filled with gorgeous, subtle details, from astounding visual flourishes to overheard cries for help. But it’s more than just a world–it’s a fun and exciting action game with a ton of stuff to do and places to explore, rounded out with silky-smooth controls and a complex story that will slowly grab you the more you play. Make no mistake: Assassin’s Creed is one of the best efforts of the year and a must-own game for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners.

I’ve only heard one review on this game and it wasn’t the one from Gamespot. The IGN video review didn’t give the game much credit. They did talk about the good things about the game, but focused heavily on its drawbacks and said “This is a game that you’d rather rent for a weekend than buy. It’s a game that falls flat on its face.” But, from other sites I look at it seems the game is great and everything they said it would be. Just goes to show you that its all about opinion. My opinion is I’m gonna buy it, play it, if I don’t like it I’ll trade it in and if I do I’ll keep it. Its that simple for me

I read IGN’s written review and video of Assassin’s Creed, too, Matt. I was also quite worried when they began to highlight problems — however, they don’t worry me all that much. I think the folks at IGN were hoping for perfection and Assassin’s Creed simply isn’t. Although, it comes damn close, in my personal opinion.
They did score it a 7.7 and even by IGN’s standards, they class Assassin’s Creed as in between good and great. In fact, if you check out IGN’s very own Assassin’s Creed forum then you’ll see just how many members disagree with Hilary’s write up of Assassin’s Creed — Hilary Goldstein being the person who published the IGN review.
Every single professional Assassin’s Creed review I’ve read, besides IGN’s, has been extremely positive. I’m still very, very excited about Assassin’s Creed and I can’t wait to get my hands on it even despite one review that didn’t rate it perfect, but a very reasonable 7.7/10, I might add.
